About this resource
Region VII Area Agency on Aging helps caregivers in east-central Michigan make a loved one’s home safer through its free Information and Assistance (I&A) Team. With more than 50 years serving seniors, the agency knows the home-safety and fall-prevention resources available across its ten-county region and can guide families to them.
An Information and Referral specialist assesses each situation and connects families to home-safety supports — in-home assistance, home modifications, medical equipment, and care management — and to programs such as the MI Choice Medicaid Waiver where appropriate. Because falls are the leading cause of injury among older adults, reducing home hazards is one of the most impactful steps a caregiver can take, and a single call can point families to assessments, equipment, and programs that may help cover costs. The agency serves Bay, Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Huron, Isabella, Midland, Saginaw, Sanilac, and Tuscola counties, with local Departments and Commissions on Aging for access.
This resource matters because many caregivers don’t know what home-safety help exists or how to access it, and a knowledgeable specialist closes that gap quickly. For caregivers in the Region VII service area focused on keeping a loved one safe at home, the I&A Team is the natural first call — reach an Information and Referral specialist at 1-800-858-1637, or contact the main office in Bay City.
