Valley AAA 5 Information and Assistance Team

The Valley Area Agency on Aging (VAAA), serving Region 5 in the Flint area, operates an Information and Assistance (I&A) Team that is the free, central entry point for older adults, people with disabilities, and caregivers seeking help — including connections to assistive technology and equipment that support independent living.

I&A specialists listen to each caller’s needs and link them to the right services: in-home care, the MI Choice Medicaid Waiver, nutrition programs, caregiver support and dementia-specific programs like the Savvy Caregiver Workshop, wellness classes, and devices that improve safety and mobility. VAAA also uses MI Connection to link families to resources across Michigan’s network of sixteen Area Agencies on Aging. Rather than navigating a fragmented system alone, families gain a knowledgeable guide who can match them to programs quickly.
